The
company was formed in 1968 and was a partnership
between Wilf Whalley and Bill Taylor. The
company was started as Whalley and Taylor Engineering
and operated from a rental premises in Etruria,
Stoke-on-Trent, producing machined products for
other industries in the area. After 18 months
the business moved to Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent and
as the reputation of the company grew so did the
need for floor space. This led to the company
using two industrial units half a mile apart. |

The
need became apparent for the firm to be under one
roof and so in 1972 land was purchased in Burslem
Stoke-on-Trent where a new Works unit was built.
The business continued to expand when in December
1986 Wilf Whalley retired and sold his share of
the company to Bill Taylor. The business title
the became William Taylor Engineering. Almost
a decade later Bill Taylor died and his wife and
daughters took over the running of the company.
